More Than Luck

Setting an unrealistic goal can lead to that “un-lucky” feeling
Have you ever looked at someone and thought “lucky them” or maybe you told someone about a thing you did or plan to do and they replied with “lucky”? Normally what's going on has nothing to do with luck and everything to do with hard works and planning. Most people don’t mean to say “lucky” in a negative way. It just happens to be a common saying, but people that are in that “un-lucky” state of mind might also feel like they could never reach those same goals when they say that. It’s important to remember that when most people talk, they are also reflecting on a side of themselves. Everyone is capable of reaching their goals, but might lack stability, financial freedom, or health to reach the same goal as someone else.
When we see others reaching great heights or maybe living our dream life it is often easy to feel that green monster of jealousy creep into our lives. It’s important to let yourself feel that emotion and then figure out why it has come to visit. The feeling is obviously here for a reason, but maybe being jealous of a friend’s new car isn’t because you want that car or even a new one, but possibly because you lack the savings for such a purchase. Maybe you would like to travel, but lack the confidence or support group to travel with so you start getting that “un-lucky” feeling when you see others traveling. It’s important to recognize why you feel a specific way. Doing that and having that answer can help you live a better life.
After figuring out why you feel unlucky or jealous you probably have your “reason why”. The “reason why” is a very important part of getting to that “lucky” state or in other words, your goal. When you have your reason for doing anything it makes it a bit easier to stick with a goal. If I get up at 5AM every morning to just sit in a dark room and wonder, why I don’t just go back to sleep when I’m probably not going to reach my goal of waking up everyday at 5am. In a different mindset, I can wake up, get myself ready for the day, have a light breakfast and warm water while enjoying my morning a little before my kids get up at 6am. The whole time I can remind myself that the goal is to be waking up on my own terms for myself and not just for others
.
Now waking up for yourself is sometimes easier said than done because I use to get up every morning to write my book (still unfinished), but my baby and toddler somehow knew I was starting my day and slowly were waking up earlier and earlier until I had no time in the mornings again. Now because I also had a goal to have a good day with my kids and not have them starting our day at 4am, I decided to sleep in again with them at least until they were a little older, but that doesn’t mean I stopped trying to find time. I also only changed my goal for a different and more important goal of mine. I didn’t change for any reason other than my love for my children and having peace in our home.

Sometimes our life is in a difficult season, and we have to work with that, almost like real seasons. For example, could you imagen starting seeds outside in December and then wondering why you don’t have a flourishing garden in April? Working with your lifestyle is best and if you need help doing that please consider scheduling an appointment with me soon. My goal in 2025 was to find more meaningful work and that is still something I would like to do now. I think I always want it to be my actual job to help people, but lets get back to goals and life! Making sure goals align with your life is important for reaching those goals. Sometime we change our goal and other times we change out lifestyle. Consider all options before taking steps but remember that movement is living and you wont go anywhere standing still.
Speaking of “standing still” I did eventually stop writing and I may never get so “lucky” as to have a book published if I never start again. Let this be an example of a failed dream due to lack of trying. I could find time to write now, but I am dealing with a lot of things behind closed doors that make navigating the day to day difficult. This is not an excuse as to why I can’t but rather an explanation as to why I won’t. We all have problems in some way or another and I am currently choosing to write this blog and focus on my multiple jobs before I can comfortably enjoy that beautiful hobby. We all have a hard time, but we get to choose how we handle that time and where to put our energy. This is my season of work and growth. Recognize where you are and aim for where you’re headed. What season of life do you think you are in now?
If you would like to support me, please considered ordering this “More Than Lucky” T-shirt. This showcases a design I made with rose gold coloring! My business only gets a small percent. I hope to partner with a local small business to create products for Mothers Day!
